Airam installed the lighting solutions at the new Family Centre in Helsinki. The Family Centre at Itäkeskus is the first of its kind, as it combines children and family services under one roof, from preventive to special services.
The employees and clients of the family centre need a safe and calm environment, in which suitable high-quality lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere. In care- and social work, lighting also plays an ergonomic role for workers. Light should be even, neutrally white and sufficiently strong without creating discomfort glare.
The low-profiled Plateia luminaires were chosen as universal lighting for group-work rooms and lobby facilities. Plateia is very suitable for the suspended ceiling systems used in public spaces. Plateia luminaires with a 4,000 K light source were installed in the personnel dining facilities and reception rooms. The same luminaire was chosen for the lobby, but with a warmer 3,000 K colour temperature, which creates a pleasant, warm and homely atmosphere.
The brightness of the DALI-controlled Plateia luminaires and the switching on and off of the lighting can be controlled through a motion sensor, so that the lights are not needlessly left on. Automatic control of the lighting is also very important for the building’s energy consumption.
Good lighting increases safety in stairwells. This was achieved by choosing narrow-bodied Eval luminaires with a 4,000 K colour temperature. Eval luminaires have a matt-surfaced aluminium glare shield and an opal diffuser to protect the LED light source, which gives it low discomfort glare, URG < 19. Eval can also be installed with DALI control.
Recessed Frey downlights were chosen for the storage rooms, office, printing area and toilets. Frey is a multi-purpose luminaire for corridors and work facilities, among other places, but it is also suitable for universal lighting in individual rooms.
