Tapio Wirkkala’s WIR light bulb designed for Airam in 1959 reformed the lamp design. A plain lamp cord was combined with a sleek opal glass light bulb. The light fixture was rewarded at La XII Triennale di Milano. The clear glass shade combined with the bulb holder's brushed steel and the clear cord creates a fresh and clean light fixture in a completely new way. The cut of the glass cover subtly emphasizes the fashion language of the WIR light bulb.
