In the IP codes, the first digit stands for the level of protection against solid bodies, and the second digit describes the degree of protection against water

The most commonly used IP classifications for wet spaces are:

  • IP20: No protection against liquids.
  • IP21: Protected from condensation.
  • IP44:  Bathrooms and shower rooms. Carports and garages equipped with a drain and water supply. Protected from water spray from any direction.
  • IP54: Protected from limited dust ingress. For spaces where full protection from dust is not required but the accumulation of dust must be prevented. Protected from water spray from any direction.
  • IP65: Fully protected. Dust-proof. Protected from low pressure water jets from any direction.
  • IP67: Can be placed close to the water’s surface. Fully protected. Dust-proof. Protected from momentary immersion in water.
  • IP68: Swimming pools. Fully protected. Dust-proof. Protected from long-term immersion in water.
