The Helsinki-Vantaa Joint Rescue Station HK130 is designed to ensure the safety of the airport and its surroundings. The rescue station is located in the airport area to provide quick assistance in all emergency situations. Good lighting also enhances the operation of the rescue station, and during the renovation, the outdated luminaires were completely replaced. The proposal based on Airam's lighting calculation was implemented in December 2024. As planned, all hall and corridor luminaires are Casambi-controlled LED luminaires
To ensure perfect lighting, a site inspection was conducted before the renovation, and shortly after the installation work, Airam's experts met with the users of the premises. During the meeting, feedback and requests for lighting adjustments were collected from the rescue station employees. Based on the feedback, fine adjustments were made, such as changing the lighting intensity in some areas and adjusting the activation times of motion sensors. Quick programming is an advantage of Casambi control; changes are quick and flexible, and light levels can be adjusted steplessly. Changes to the wireless network are handled effortlessly with the user's phone. Airam also supplied the rescue station with easily installable Casambi sensors with a wide detection area, of which there are over 30 in the premises. The old lighting was always on, and thanks to the new sensors, the lights are only on when there is activity in the premises. By replacing the luminaires with Casambi-controlled LED luminaires, up to 70% energy savings were achieved in a very short time.
Solutions from Airam's Range for All Spaces
Airam's IP65-rated Futura Nano PC models were installed in the equipment and repair hall. "The 25 cm adjustment range of the Futura Nano brackets makes installation easier. The range of motion reduces the need for precise positioning, and the luminaire can be installed quickly and smoothly," commented the site's electrician. The Futura Nano also has a removable optical film, which can be removed to increase light output in places where glare is less significant. The Futura RST was chosen as the luminaire for the wash hall. The RST model withstands the chemicals used in washrooms and is also IP65-rated. The rescue personnel's changing rooms are illuminated by Keto Pro equipped with a sensor, and the corridor of the employees' social facilities was chosen with the modern general luminaire Lumino. Some Luminos are equipped with a sensor that controls the lighting groups in the space. The Compact XL was chosen as the general luminaire for the rescue station's kitchen, which is a versatile downlight and is particularly suitable for replacing old mercury lamp downlights. The office spaces are illuminated by models from the Vario series, for which asymmetrical light distribution versions were customized for bulletin boards.
